“Katlyn Kotila (she/her) is a 22-year-old public speaker, community leader, and queer activist born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. She is currently completing her degree at Laurentian University where she specializes in Political Science and has a minor in Communication Studies.
Over the years, she has worked alongside a number of organizations in partnership with marginalized communities and those living with mental illness. Katlyn serves on the Advisory Committee for the Ontario Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health and is President/Chair Person of the Sudbury Federal NDP and Fierté Sudbury Pride. She is a passionate social advocate but is best known for her work surrounding mental health and eliminating barriers to access for 2SLGBTQ+ and Northern students.
Katlyn Kotila knows first-hand how suicide and mental illness can affect a person’s life. After having lost a close friend to suicide at the young age of 14 years old, she is determined to share her experiences with mental illness to help those who may be facing similar battles. As a public speaker, queer advocate, and former Miss World Canada delegate, Katlyn uses her story to inspire people across the globe.
This 22-year-old speaker and leader continues to use her story to fight for a better world and now she wants to provide others with the tools necessary to do the same. Learn more about Katlyn Kotila by visiting katlynkotila.com and joining her on social media @katlynkotila.”
